Adding Unauthorized Cameras to Logitech Capture

One of the most frustrating things about large corporate product developers is their tendency to lock down features on their products that just don’t make sense to restrict. Logitech Capture is a convenient and easy to use piece of software for people looking to create video content BUT Logitech has restricted use to only a few high end models of webcam that they sell. After using a logitech camera my brother had let me borrow during his deployment and getting used to creating videos with Capture, I bought a lower end Logitech webcam so I could continue to use the software just to find out it was locked down and I needed to purchase a +$100 webcam. I’d rather pay for the software than buy additional overpriced hardware that I don’t need so I set about trying to get my existing cameras to work with Capture. I did the hard work so you don’t have to. Full instructions are in the document below. I hope it saves someone from spending money they don’t have to on hardware they don’t really need.
